Science Classes for Home Educated Students
PREP West Campus this year--> Kainos Community Church (Fry and Saums Rd.)
More offered at PREP North West this year--> Cypress Bible Church (Cypress N. Houston Rd. between N. Eldridge and Jones Road.)
Chemistry
High school Chemistry presents the foundational ideas behind and applications of the science of chemistry. From atomic structure, bonding, equations, acid-base relationships to electro-chemistry, biochemistry, and nuclear chemistry, the wonders of God's orderly creation are stressed. Application is enhanced by frequent laboratory exercises that promote understanding of often-complex ideas. Biology and a good background in algebra are recommended before this course. The new Bob Jones 3rd edition, Chemistry text and Lab Manual for Christian Schools are used. This class will meet on Tuesday afternoons from 12:00-3:00pm at the PREP West Campus in Katy or Wednesday mornings from 8:00-11:00 at the PREP North West campus. (80 Lab fee/Tuition 600 yr.) (Monthly payments available)
Biology
High school Biology is a comprehensive, laboratory study of God's biological creation. Labs and demonstrations are scheduled throughout the course. Several dissection labs and microbiology labs will be covered. The Bob Jones 4th edition High School Biology book and Lab Manual are used. This class meets for 3 hours once a week. Once each semester a major project is assigned, one is a term paper; the other is usually a wildflower classification project. During the human body unit outside research is also assigned. This year biology is offered: Tuesday mornings from 8:00-11:00 at the West PREP location and Wednesday afternoons from 1:00-4:00 at the North West PREP location. (80 Lab fee/Tuition 600 yr.) (Monthly payments available)

Integrated Physics and Chemistry-Physical Science
This course is designed to introduce students to the study of Physics and Chemistry. This will prepare students for Biology and upper level Chemistry and Physics studies. The year will be divided into one semester of chemistry and one semester of physics. We will use the new Bob Jones 4th edition text, Physical Science a 1 volume text. You will need to purchase the Lab Manual also. Eighth or ninth grade students who have completed Life Science or Earth Science and that are taking Algebra 1 will be equipped for this class. High school students who need some background in the physical sciences before taking chemistry or physics will benefit from this course also. For the 2008-2009 year the class meets either Monday morning from 9:00-12:00 at the PREP North West campus or Thursday mornings from 8:00-11:00 at the PREP West campus. (80 Lab fee / Tuition 600 tuition yearly, monthly payments available.)
Jr. High Life Science
2 hr. class/1x week, Min. 12 Tuition: $50 month/$500 year
Lab Fee: $70 payable at registration
Textbook: The 3rd edition, Bob Jones 7th grade Life Science Book (a two volume set that includes the activity pages) is used. This class is designed to teach research skills, study skills, note taking, and lab skills through the study of life science. Two major projects are assigned to students during the year, one is a research project on a major biome. These projects are to teach students proper research, presentation and reporting skills. Laboratory skills include microscopic work and dissection. At PREP North West class is Monday afternoon from 12:30-2:30 and it is offered at the West campus on Thursday 11:30-1:30.
